District of Columbia Temporarily Revises Employment-Related Laws

The District of Columbia’s B. 24-373 revises the district’s Universal Paid Leave Act and Family and Medical Leave Act (see Title IV, Subtitle G), along with provisions regarding unemployment compensation (see Title IV, Subtitles O and T), unclaimed property (see Title VII, Subtitle A), and taxable income exclusions (see Title VII, Subtitle C). The emergency legislation is effective upon enactment—but not applicable until Oct. 1, 2021, unless otherwise specified—and expires Nov. 21, 2021.
