Florida, American Samoa Raise Minimum Wages Effective Sept. 30

Minimum wages rose Sept. 30 to $10 in Florida and 40 cents across a variety of industries in American Samoa, as reflected in their updated minimum-wage posters.

Florida’s minimum wage increase to $10 from $8.65 and tipped-worker minimum cash wage increase to $6.98 from $5.63, based on a $3.02 tip credit, is the result of a Nov. 3, 2020, voter-approved ballot measure that is raising the minimum wage by $1 annually until it reaches $15 on Sept. 30, 2026. The next $1 increase to $11 is scheduled to occur on Sept. 30, 2022.
