Florida Confirms Minimum Wage to Rise 10 Cents in 2020

Florida’s hourly minimum wage is to rise to $8.56 from $8.46, effective Jan. 1, 2020, the Department of Economic Opportunity said on its website.

The hourly minimum wage for tipped employees is to rise to $5.54 from $5.44, based on a tip credit of $3.02, the department said.

The federal hourly minimum wage is $7.25.

Florida’s announcement confirmed Bloomberg Tax calculations from Sept. 12. Adjustments to the state’s 2020 minimum wage had to be posted by Oct. 15 on the department’s website.
