IRS Launches Identity-Theft Webpage

A webpage with information on identity theft and data-security protection for employers and tax professionals was introduced Feb. 3 by the Internal Revenue Service.

Identity Theft Central aims to improve the awareness of federal and state efforts to fight the theft of personal information and tax-related data. The effort was coordinated by the IRS, state tax agencies, and the tax-preparation industry, the IRS said in a news release (IR-2020-27). The initiative was put together as part of the Security Summit.
