Three-day tax forums in five cities were scheduled by the Internal Revenue Service for this summer to provide educational support for payroll and tax professionals on a variety of issues.

The sessions are to be held July 9 to 11 in National Harbor, Md.; July 23 to 25 in Chicago; Aug. 6 to 8 in New Orleans; Aug. 13 to 15 in Orlando, Fla.; and Sept. 17 to 19 in San Diego.

The IRS Nationwide Tax Forums offer more than 40 seminars and a workshop presented by experts from the IRS and its partner organizations. Among the seminars is a discussion of changes related to payroll under the tax code overhaul (Pub. L. 115-97), which took effect Jan. 1, 2018.

Forum participants may make an appointment to bring one unresolved business tax issue to the Case Resolution Program for a one-on-one meeting with an IRS representative. Participants must bring a signed original or copy of Form, 2848, Power of Attorney and Declaration of Representative, which must be presented when scheduling an appointment.

Each forum also features a two-day expo with representatives from tax, financial, and business communities offering products, services, and expertise.

Early registration completed by June 15 is $235. The standard registration rate of $255 is available after June 15 until two weeks before each forum. Participants registering less than two weeks before a session starts are to pay $370.

The IRS Nationwide Tax Forums Online website provides courses based on taped seminars from previous tax forums.

Attendance at tax forum seminars qualifies for continuing professional education credits for enrolled agents, certified public accountants, and California Tax Education Council participants, the IRS said.
