Michigan Governor Vetoes Additional Withholding Installments

A Michigan bill that was to allow qualifying employers affected by the new coronavirus pandemic to make additional withholding deposits in installments was vetoed July 8 by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D).

The measure (S.B. 937) would have extended the relief already offered by the state treasury department. In a veto statement, Whitmer said it was necessary to continue to provide local governments with their share of state tax deposits, and cited the state treasury department’s installment provisions.
