New Mexico County Moves Up Effective Date of Paid-Leave Rule

A paid-leave ordinance recently enacted by Bernalillo County, N.M., was amended to change the effective date and accrual amounts based on employer size, the county commission said Oct. 16.

The paid-leave ordinance (2019-17) is to take effect Jan. 1, 2020, rather than July 1, 2020, the commission said in a news release.

The accrual amounts also were modified and based on employer size. The three July 1 dates from 2020 to 2022 when paid-leave accrual amounts are to be adjusted were left unchanged by the commission.
