San Diego’s hourly minimum wage is to rise to $14 from $13 on Jan. 1, the state’s labor department said Sept. 28.
At $14 an hour, the city’s 2021 rate would be greater than California’s 2021 minimum wage rate of $13 for small employers. The city’s wage applies to private-sector employees who work at least two hours a week in one or more weeks and also provides employees with five sick days. The city does not allow a tip credit to count toward the minimum wage rate.
