National Taxpayer Advocate Erin Collins urged Congress to redirect some of the IRS funding in the Inflation Reduction Act from enforcement to taxpayer services and technology modernization.
“The additional funding provided by the IRA, while appreciated and welcomed, is disproportionately allocated for enforcement activities and should be reallocated to achieve a better balance with taxpayer service needs and IT modernization,” Collins wrote in a blog post Thursday. “We need to put taxpayers first.”
