Insurer Must Defend Policy Holder in Biometric Privacy Actions

Twin City Fire Insurance Co. must defend janitorial service company Vonachen Services Inc. in two biometric privacy class actions it’s facing, an Illinois federal judge ruled.

Twin City has a duty to defend Vonachen under the employment practices liability coverage but not under the directors, officers, and entity liability coverage, James E. Shadid wrote in an order and opinion filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois.

Attorneys representing Twin City didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
