Georgia to Limit Animal Movement From Texas After Screwworm Case

The Georgia Department of Agriculture is limiting the interstate movement of both livestock and pets in response to the New World screwworm’s detection in Texas earlier this week, according to a Friday statement.

  • Animals entering Georgia from surveillance zones or high-risk counties must have a certificate of veterinary inspection dated within seven days stating that animals were free of screwworm
    • Current zones include the following Texas counties: Zavala, Uvalde, Kinney, Maverick, Edwards, Real, Kerr, Bandera, Medina, Frio, La Salle, and Dimmit
