Ireland Should Expand Tax Treaty Network, Business Groups Say

Ireland should keep expanding its network of bilateral income tax treaties, business groups urged the government.

“It is critical that Ireland continues to develop an extensive tax treaty network,” to help both Irish companies operating abroad and inbound investment, said the Irish Tax Institute, an industry body for Irish tax advisers. Bilateral income tax treaties encourage cross-border investment by reducing withholding taxes and helping resolve tax disputes between governments and companies.
