Global Minimum Tax Next Steps Unveiled Ahead of G20 Meeting

The OECD announced next steps in its plan to rewrite international tax rules by the end of 2020 and will present the plan for approval at the G20 meeting in June.

  • New rules may set a minimum rate for multinationals as part of the OECD project to address concerns about where and how much digital companies are taxed.
  • Plan also moves to allow countries to tax companies that aren’t physically present in their jurisdiction and to give a greater share of profits to countries where customers or users are located.
