BNSF, CPKC, Teamsters Join Group to Oppose Union Pacific Merger

BNSF Railway, CPKC Railway and the Teamsters Rail Conference join the Stop the Rail Merger Coalition, a group aiming to stop the merger between Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern.

• Teamsters Rail Conference makes up the majority of Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern’s unionized workforce
• Group argues the railway consolidation as a result of the merger would reduce competition, drive up costs and inject new vulnerabilities into the US supply chain
• The American Chemistry Council, the American Farm Bureau Federation, Alliance for Chemical Distribution, National Industrial Transportation League and Vinyl Institute also joined the group
