Delta, Aeromexico Challenge DOT Order to Dissolve Alliance

Delta Air Lines Inc.and Aeromexico are challenging an order from President Donald Trump’s administration that the carriers dissolve their transborder joint venture.

The appeal, filed on Thursday with the 11th Circuit US Court of Appeals, comes less than a month after the Department of Transportation issued a final order for the airlines to end their alliance, Delta said in a statement. The partnership allowed the carriers to coordinate pricing, marketing and frequent flyer programs.

“Unwinding the joint venture by the Jan. 1 deadline the DOT has set would be operationally and financially burdensome,” Delta’s statement said.
