DOJ Weighs Antitrust Challenge of Pharmacy Software Merger

The US Justice Department is weighing a challenge to a deal between two of the largest companies offering software to small, independent pharmacies, as antitrust enforcers step up their focus on the health-care industry.

The deal, which the companies didn’t publicly announce, involves the acquisition of Micro Merchants Systems, the operator of pharmacy management software platform PrimeRx, by RedSail Technologies, said the people, who asked not to be named discussing a confidential matter. Micro Merchants is backed by TA Associates Management, while RedSail is the result of multiple acquisitions backed by investment firms including Francisco Partners. ...
