A group of building firms was fined £60 million ($73.8 million) after the UK’s antitrust watchdog found they had colluded on illegal cartel contracts worth over £150 million.
The Competition and Markets Authority said Thursday it had issued fines to 10 construction firms including Brown and Mason Group Ltd, Cantillon Ltd and Clifford Devlin Ltd. Some of the companies involved got fines reduced after admitting their involvement.
The collusion affected 19 contracts for demolition work and included work for an Oxford University building, a Metropolitan Police Service training college, a court building, and offices on London’s Southbank. The businesses used ...
