US Cuts 13 Routes for Mexican Airlines Flying Into Country (2)

The US Transportation Department is cutting 13 current or planned routes by Mexican carriers into the US, in response to the country’s alleged noncompliance with a 2015 air transport agreement, Secretary Sean Duffy announced late Tuesday.

A new order from the US government cancels all combination service — in which carriers transport both passengers and cargo — between the US and Felipe Ángeles International Airport outside Mexico City. The order also freezes any expansion of such services by Mexican carriers between the US and Mexico City’s Benito Juárez International Airport, according to a news release from the department.
