Canada Funds Quantum Firms to Keep Them From Flocking to US (1)

The Canadian government will provide as much as C$92 million ($66.8 million) in funding to help quantum computing firms to scale up and remain in the country, as competition with the US in the emerging field heats up.

The funding will be split among Anyon Systems, Nord Quantique, Photonic, and Xanadu Quantum Technologies, according to a news release from Artificial Intelligence Minister Evan Solomon’s office. The money is described as the first phase of a Canadian Quantum Champions Program, part of C$334 million set out in November’s budget to strengthen the sector over five years.
