EPA’s Zeldin Says Agency will Help Hyperscalers Cut Red Tape

The head of the US Environmental Protection Agency said he would push to help hyperscalers build more data centers needed for artificial intelligence.

“We want to help make America the AI capital of the world,” Administrator Lee Zeldin said in an on-stage interview at the CERAWeek by S&P Global energy conference in Houston on Wednesday. “We want more data centers built, and we want these hyperscalers to be able to make these investments.”

Zeldin’s remarks come as the rush to build data centers is sparking a public backlash from communities concerned about their impact on electricity prices, water and land. ...
