OpenAI’s Lightcap Sees Memory Shortage as Bottleneck Risk for AI

OpenAI Chief Operating Officer Brad Lightcap said that the ongoing memory chip shortage and constraints on US energy supplies are potential bottlenecks to expanding artificial intelligence infrastructure.

“Right now, it’s memory,” Lightcap said on-stage at the Hill and Valley Forum in Washington on Tuesday. “It’s been power in the past.”
