Wells Fargo Taps Amazon Web Services Executive to Expand AI Use

Wells Fargo & Co. hired Faraz Shafiq from Amazon Web Services to oversee the bank’s adoption of artificial intelligence products and help make operations more efficient.

Shafiq will study companywide needs that can be addressed by generative and agentic AI, and work with technology teams to develop and manage those products, according to Saul Van Beurden, the newly appointed head of AI who also shares responsibility for the bank’s consumer business.
