BOE’s Bailey Praises Powell as a Friend With ‘Utmost Integrity’

Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey offered praise for Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell at a time when his peer is under attack from President Donald Trump.

The UK central banker insisted he is not going to “comment on events in the US” before then stating admiration for his counterpart in Washington.

“Jay Powell is a friend of mine — obviously, we are very close, we work very closely together,” Bailey told reporters in London, in response to a question about the strain being placed on the Fed chief. “He is a man of utmost integrity.”
