The former co-head of Barings’ global private finance group accused the asset manager of ignoring conflicts of interest and mismanaging investor funds, as he laid out his defense in a lawsuit linked to the mass defection of a star team to a rival.
Adam Wheeler alleged that a Barings unit oversaw serious loan accounting errors including mistakes in calculating and collecting interest, as well as sending cash to the wrong accounts, according to the latest filing in a dispute that’s playing out in the UK and US.
