First Brands Judge OKs Bankruptcy Advisers, Rejects Objections

First Brands Group can hire several restructuring firms to help it navigate bankruptcy, a judge said Monday, rejecting demands from lenders that some units of the auto-parts maker should have separate advisers to avoid potential conflicts.

  • US Bankruptcy Judge Christopher Lopez approved contracts to hire law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges, restructuring advisory Alvarez & Marsal and investment banker Lazard Frères & Co, and other firms
  • Lopez also authorized a committee of unsecured creditors to hire the law firm Brown Rudnick and financial advisors
