Germany Leases LNG Ship in Deal With Egypt and Jordan (1)

A floating liquefied natural gas import terminal originally leased to Germany is now bound for Egypt in a deal that also includes the Jordan government.

The German government has sublet the vessel, called Energos Force, to Egypt’s state utility EGAS, said a spokeswoman in Germany’s economy ministry. EGAS, which secured several importing vessels, has in turn leased the floating terminal to Jordan’s state utility NEPCO, she added.

The deal gestures at shifting seasonal demands in the Middle East, where importers tend to need more fuel ahead of the hot summer months, when air conditioning usage peaks.
