Retailer Francesca’s Files Second Bankruptcy, Plans to Liquidate

Boutique women’s specialty retailer Francesca’s has filed for bankruptcy for the second time, saying it will close its stores and liquidate.

The downfall of Houston-based Francesca’s Acquisition LLC was the result of failed brand investments, inflation, supply chain issues, and a 2023 data breach that shut down company systems, according to filings Thursday in the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey.

The retailer has focused on women’s clothes, jewelry, accessories, and gifts for Gen Z and other customers, with about 400 locations in 45 states and an e-commerce platform, according to court records. At its peak between ...
