Supreme Court Declines to Hear Debt Group’s Free Speech Suit

The US Supreme Court declined to consider an appeal over whether New York rules against the unauthorized practice of law violate the First Amendment of a debt-education group.

The justices on Monday rejected a petition by Upsolve Inc. to review a US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit decision preventing trained non-lawyers from providing free legal guidance to debt collection defendants.
