Republicans Seek Answers From EEOC on Lagging Bias Charge Data

House Republican committee leaders want to know why the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission hasn’t published annual statistics on the number of discrimination charges the agency received last year, raising concerns about a potential increase in backlogged cases.

“EEOC normally posts breakdowns in the types of discrimination charges it received in the previous fiscal year by January of the current fiscal year,” Republican Reps. Virginia Foxx (N.C.) and Kevin Kiley (Calif.) wrote in a letter Thursday to EEOC Chair Charlotte Burrows.

Foxx serves as chairwoman of the House Education and the Workforce Committee, while Kiley chairs the Subcommittee on Workforce Protections. ...
