BGOV Analysis: Senate Committee-Approved Housing Package (1)

The Housing and Urban Development Department would issue new zoning and design blueprints for states and cities, authorize new funding for affordable housing programs, and ease environmental regulations for federally funded housing developments under the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee-approved version of S. 2651.

Senators have been under increased pressure to act since the House passed its package of housing policy changes on Feb. 9 (H.R. 6644; BGOV Bill Analysis). The Senate released a substitute amendment to the House bill on March 2.
