Key lawmakers have started introducing legislation to set federal policies for artificial intelligence, taking the first steps toward filling a vacuum in Washington that has allowed states to enact their own laws.
The spike in activity on Capitol Hill comes on the heels of the White House releasing its own governmentwide AI strategy in July, which favors rapid investment and stripped-down regulations over the safety and transparency standards promoted under the Biden administration.
