Lawmakers in the House will return Jan. 6, 2026, to kick off the second session of the 119th Congress.
The House is scheduled to be in session for 29 weeks next year, according to the calendar published by Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.). The chamber has recesses planned for nearly all of August and October ahead of the midterm elections, in addition to breaks around Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
The chamber is also scheduled to be in session for Veterans Day.
