Bill Renewing Small Business Research Programs Passes House (2)

The House on Tuesday passed bipartisan legislation that would extend a pair of federal programs providing seed money for small businesses to research and develop cutting-edge technologies.

The vote was 345-41, sending the legislation to the president desk’s to be signed into law. The bill (S.3971), which the Senate unanimously approved on March 3, would restore the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs through the end of fiscal year 2031. The authorization lapsed on Sept. 30.
