Boston Mayor Wu Beats Kraft Challenge by Almost 50 Points (2)

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu sailed to a first-place finish in the city’s preliminary mayoral election on Tuesday, handily besting a well-funded challenge from Josh Kraft in voters’ first chance to weigh in ahead of the final contest in November.

Wu received nearly 72% of votes, compared with about 23% for Kraft, according to unofficial results from the city. That stark gap echoes recent polling that indicated a significant disadvantage heading into the contest for Kraft, the son of billionaire New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft.
