California’s redistricting battles are far from over.

A new congressional map voters approved Nov. 4 is setting up the first 2026 election matchup pitting two House incumbents in the same district, and more could come.

Republican Reps. Ken Calvert and Young Kim are both seeking the reconfigured 40th District, which combines large swaths of their southern California constituencies under Democratic-drawn lines voters adopted under Proposition 50.
