Highway Bill Could Move in First Half of April, House Chair Says

The House could begin moving a draft surface transportation reauthorization in the first part of April, Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chair Sam Graves (R-Mo.) said Tuesday.

The new target date announced during a US Chamber of Commerce event in Washington would leave lawmakers with just a few months to craft a sweeping bill affecting transportation projects nationwide before a 2021 law expires on Sept. 30. A House version of a reauthorization could hover between $500 billion and $550 billion, Graves said.
