House Blocks Effort to Remove US Troops From Venezuela Region

The House on Thursday defeated a Democratic resolution that aimed to block US military presence in the Venezuela region without congressional authorization.

The 215-215 vote for the measure (H. Con. Res. 68; BGOV Bill Analysis) sponsored by Democrat Jim McGovern (Mass.) shows that President Donald Trump still has a hold on the GOP conference for his takeover of Venezuela and capture of its president Nicolas Maduro. The resolution had one Republican co-sponsor, Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky.

Massie and Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.) were the only Republicans who supported the resolution.
