House to Vote Thursday on Overriding Trump Vetoes of GOP Bills

The House is slated to vote Thursday on overturning the first two vetoes of President Donald Trump’s second term, according to a House GOP aide.

Both vetoed bills, H.R. 504 and H.R. 131, were led by Republicans and advanced through both chambers with broad bipartisan support last year. One bill would aim to bring fresh water to Coloradans, while the other would grant protections to certain land occupied by the Miccosukee Tribe. Trump’s vetoes were a rebuke of Colorado’s Democratic leaders and the Native American nation that has opposed his immigration policy.
