Pentagon’s Aukus Review Was ‘Rewritten for Trump,’ SMH Reports

The Pentagon’s review of the Aukus security agreement between the US, UK and Australia was rewritten to align with President Donald Trump’s enthusiasm for the arrangement, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

The review was reworked after initially being more skeptical of the pact, the newspaper said, citing three people with knowledge of the matter that it didn’t identify.

Aukus was this week endorsed by the Pentagon, providing momentum for the plan to provide Australia with nuclear submarines and share critical technologies among the allies.
