Pipeline Safety Programs Reauthorization Passed by Senate

Pipeline safety programs would be reauthorized for five years under legislation passed Wednesday by the Senate.

The bill (S. 2975), which passed unanimously, would renew programs overseen by the Pipeline and Hazardous Material Safety Administration, part of the Transportation Department.

“I applaud the Senate’s passage of the PIPELINE Safety Act and look forward to resolving differences with the House so we can get it to the President’s desk,” Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Chair Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said in a statement after the vote.
