Congress’ two top Democrats are both Brooklynites who say they’re in constant communication and in lockstep on immigration policy.

However, there have been cracks in their tenuous alliance as Congress approaches a Feb. 13 deadline to fund the Department of Homeland Security and negotiate Democrats’ demands for immigration enforcement changes.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and the White House negotiated a short-term continuing resolution for DHS that ended a brief partial shutdown yesterday. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and his entire Democratic leadership team voted against it.
