Senate Approves Trump Picks for Railroad, Maritime, AV Oversight

The Senate on Monday confirmed several presidential nominees key to President Donald Trump’s ambitions for how the nation regulates the railroad, automotive, aviation, and maritime industries.

Senators approved roughly four dozen nominees that had been packaged by S. Res. 690 by a vote of 46-43.

Rail consultant Richard Kloster will join the Surface Transportation Board as it prepares to consider the revised application for Union Pacific Corp. to take over Norfolk Southern Corp. to form the nation’s first coast-to-coast freight rail network.
