Tech industry veteran Seval Oz won a Senate committee’s approval Tuesday for a top job at the Transportation Department as Republicans renew efforts to advance President Donald Trump‘s nominees during the government shutdown.

The sister of Mehmet Oz, the longtime TV host who now leads the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Seval Oz has held leadership positions at Google Inc. and other technology companies with multiple patents to her name related to automated technology. Her confirmation as assistant secretary of transportation for research and technology is part of Trump’s push to streamline regulations for the auto industry.
