President Donald Trump named Laura Swett as the head of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for a term that will expire at the end of June 2030, the agency said in a statement on its website.
- The nomination was approved by the Senate on Oct. 7
- Swett litigated FERC law for the past 15 years, including representing power generation utilities, transmission companies, and natural gas and liquids pipelines
- She also served in various roles at the agency, including as an adviser to a former chair and a lead attorney in the enforcement office
