Trump Officials Press Congress to Renew Drone-Fighting Powers

The Trump administration is pressing Congress to ensure federal agencies retain the ability to take down dangerous drones as their authorities face expiration in less than two weeks.

Lawmakers received the request, seen by Bloomberg Government, on Wednesday as they hash out details of an anticipated stopgap government funding bill ahead of a March 14 deadline.

The request is the first clear signal that President Donald Trump will continue in the Biden administration’s footsteps in championing the counter-drone authorities, which allow the Justice and Homeland Security departments to neutralize dangerous devices.
