Trump Whistleblower Launches Senate Campaign Against Moody

Alexander Vindman, an Army veteran who was a key witness in President Donald Trump’s first impeachment trial, announced Tuesday that he will run for a US Senate seat in Florida.

Vindman launched his bid to represent Democrats in the Senate race in Trump’s adopted state against Sen. Ashley Moody (R-Fla.), who was appointed to replace Marco Rubio when he became secretary of state. Florida is a red state that’s moved away from Democrats, but Vindman’s national profile could make the special election race more competitive as Democrats look to boost their numbers in the midterms.
