President Donald Trump‘s plan to make Chicago the next battlefront in his national war on crime has Illinois Democrats strategizing on how to create a winning counter-message.

The party’s Illinois delegation is working to figure out the best approach after Trump announced this week he plans to send the National Guard into Chicago to mitigate crime. Trump has threatened to send in the guard to several Democrat-controlled cities after he deployed troops to Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.
