US Army Says It’s On Track to Deploy First US Hypersonic Weapon

The Army said it’s on track to field the first US hypersonic weapon — a ground-launched missile called the Dark Eagle — by the end of the month, but the system still hasn’t proven it would be effective in combat, according to the Pentagon’s test office.

“We can confirm that deliveries remain on schedule to support fielding in calendar year 2025,” the Army said in a statement in response to questions. At the same time, the weapon has yet to demonstrate in rigorous operational testing that the missile system is actually effective and maintainable, the test office separately told Bloomberg. ...
