US Plans Mauritius Visit and Security Deal After Trump Criticism

US officials are planning to visit Mauritius to discuss a proposed security partnership with the island nation, after President Donald Trump criticized a deal it struck with London relating to a joint US-UK military base.

The US proposed a “high-level delegation” visit in late February to hold talks on enhanced cooperation in the Western Indian Ocean, as well as a potential security deal, according to a readout of the Mauritian government’s cabinet meeting on Friday.
