White House officials want a stopgap bill to fund the government into 2026, a plan that conflicts with a shorter extension being discussed by lawmakers in both parties.

President Donald Trump’s administration is considering a continuing resolution that would fund agencies at their current levels into the next calendar year, a senior administration official said, speaking on the condition of anonymity.
